In Sickness and In Health

Chillin’ with Mr. FixIt, waiting to hear from the doctor.

I take my vows very seriously. To love and cherish. Always. In ALL ways. Nowhere was that more apparent to me than this weekend.

We are home. There’s no place like home.

We are exhausted. Living on adrenalin and coffee with very little sleep will do that.

We are blessed. We know full well this could have been MUCH worse.

We are disappointed and angry (on a very selfish, base, childish level.) Why did this have to happen to us??? ***stomping foot***

We are confused. Where did this come from? Mr. FixIt takes exceptionally good care of himself.

Why us? Which is stupid. Why NOT us?

Anyway, the second MRI with contrast shows Mr. FixIt had a second stroke. We don’t know when the first one was. But there was a time about a year and a half ago that I noticed he was talking like he had a mouth full of marbles. It got better, but he continued to mumble. I wrote it off as colloquialism. They made some changes in his meds. The numbness seems to be leaving, praise God!

We are looking at it as a wake up call to really start taking care of ourselves. We are far too young to start rocking on the front porch all day. We ARE going to take it easy this week, though.

Thank you all so much for your love and support and the hundreds and hundreds of prayers.

❤️

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Hebrews 4:16 NIV

  1. So blessed to hear all is well. Sometimes we are tested to see where our anguish will take us ….to the Throne or to rage…..just as Job was tested and never once denied God. Praise be to Him who makes all things possible and desires only our love in return. Love in Christ

  2. OH, no. So glad things are on the mend. Strokes are nothing to sneeze at. You two take care of yourselves. Praying for you both. Thank you Lord.

  3. My Prayers go out to you and “Mr. Fix It”! God put the two of you together for a purpose…
Rest and enjoy each day together as I know you will!

  4. Prayers for you both. You are such a lovely couple and your love for one another is so apparent. So happy I got to meet you and all in such an unusual way. Praying for full recovery and strength and the Pete’s Pizza crew will be cheering you on! Faith over fear!
