Humpty Dumpty Had a Great Fall…and a Great Cup of Tea!

Knitting group was small this week…just three of us. We really did more talking than knitting. There was cake and coffee but I didn’t partake. Not that cake and coffee are bad foods…I just didn’t care for them. At some point, one of the gals needed help with something and I stood to help her. When I did, the back legs of the chair got stuck in the carpet and I ended up hiney over teakettle. Somehow I got tangled up in that chair and could not get out. I scraped the front of my left shin and got a deep bruise in the thigh of my right leg. I strained my right wrist and right ankle and hurt my lower back. Holy smokes…all that from standing up!

As we age, we have a higher risk of falls. Vision issues, medication side effects, and simply age related changes can cause falls in those over 65 can be an indication that you need to have a conversation with your doctor to evaluate what’s going on. I’ll call my primary caregiver and inform her I’ve fallen twice now since late November. That’s not an outrageous number, but something I want to stay on top of. I’m fortunate I didn’t break a hip or something.

I worked on a new blanket yesterday and ended up ripping it out when I got home. This particular pattern has to be done with great concentration…not while conversing with friends. I also crocheted a small basket that I might use at Easter for the littles. It was a quiet afternoon with my sweetie…warmed up spaghetti for supper and lots of Bull reruns. Nothing really big to report.

One of the lovely ladies that attends the Monday Morning Knitting Group brought in this little baby quilt. They were hers…and she is 80. Aren’t they precious???

I hope you’re having a good start to your week. It’s going to be rainy here. I would have gone out to the camper because I really love hearing the rain on the roof, but it was supposed to get down to 33° with a winter mix. No need to go out there when I wouldn’t be comfortable. I’ve kinda gotten past the urge to prove myself capable in that setting…been there, done that. I just stayed in my comfy little house with the window open so I could hear the rain…and the screech owls. And whatever else comes our way.

But first, a lovely cup of Blue Lotus Traditional Masala Chai in my Big Red Chair! As my grandma used to say…it’s good for what ails ya!

  1. I can’t seem to find the Peanut Butter cookie recipe (3 ingredients) that you posted in the past few days. Would you mind sending it to me again? Thanks, and keep up the good work!

    1. Sure! One cup peanut butter (I use Extra Chunky), 1 cup white sugar and one egg. Mix well, form in small balls and roll in more sugar. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet, flatten with fork in a crisscross pattern and bake in a preheated 350° oven for 6-8 minutes. Less cool a bit before removing to a cooling rack. So quick and easy!
