I’m camping this weekend with about fifty wonderful, brave, funny, interesting, beautiful women. We are with Janine Pettit who does the Girl Camper podcast series. I’m the Girl Camper Correspondent so these women have heard me interviewed before. Do you know how humbling it is to be greeted with “Oh, my gosh! YOU’RE Ginny McKinney!!!”? These are brave women, many of whom have lost their loved ones, too. Many have never towed a camper. Never have been camping. And they did it! They drove through the mountains and the twisty turny roads. They backed in and unhooked. There were lots of high fives and hugs around here yesterday. More are arriving today.

I love having the opportunity to mentor, and to share my story and experiences. I love having opportunities to minister to others and to share my love…of God, of camping, of life. I want to embrace all of these terrific women and thank them for the opportunity to experience and feel what I feel when I see them succeed.

The smell of the pine was redolent in my camper yesterday afternoon. I covered up with my throw and read, soft music in the background, the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance. Then we gathered together and shared a meal and visited and laughed and told stories. What a beautiful day!
