Have I Got a Story for You!

We lazed around the campsite yesterday morning. I fixed sausage and eggs and heated up some leftover corn cakes for breakfast. Mr. FixIt looked on his phone to see what was nearby. The largest state park in Pennsylvania is only eight miles from here so we picked up around camp and headed to explore.

Camp hair…don’t care!

Raccoon Creek State Park encompasses 7,572 acres of mixed forest with lots of trails. Located just 30 miles from Pittsburg, the park is a haven for avid outdoor enthusiasts hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, camping, swimming, fishing, and boating. While there is a large pool at the entrance to the park that includes a long, twisting water slide, Raccoon Lake is a lovely place to fish and play in and on the water. There are boat rentals available, but it is too late in the season for those activities. We really loved the spacious campground with lots of level sites. We drove around and took pictures of the sites that appealed to us and plan to camp there sometime next year.

Now…I have a great story to tell you!

Remember last week when we camped on the river? We met these really nice folks from Lewisburg…Sandy and Todd. As we talked with them, it occurred to us we had camped beside them…in the same two sites…sometime in the last few years. We think it must have been 2017 or 2018. Anyway, we figured if we’d run into each other twice in the same place, it was fate that we exchange info and keep in touch, right?

Well…keep in touch, we did. Yesterday, Sandy sent me a text with a photo…a screenshot of a post she had put on her Facebook page back in 2014 with the message, “Was this by any chance you I met in 2014?”

I looked at the photo closely. Hmmmm….

Holy Cats!!!!

That’s my camper…BIG TOW-WANDA! I was towing it with my Ford Expedition. Shortly after this, I traded it in for the F-150. The photo was taken in the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel. I cannot remember what I was doing there that day. The only thing I can surmise is I was working a shift for someone. I was indeed getting ready to head across the country to live on the farm and help my elderly aunt.

Sandy and Todd were staying at the hotel as they were on a cross country train trip and Amtrak goes right through Glenwood Springs. I only have a vague memory of meeting them. I do remember talking to a couple about Lewisburg and asking if they knew my friend Nan and, of course…they did.

What are the odds of this??? Astronomical! But nothing is out of the realm of possibilities when God is at work. He places us all in paths to cross with others. And now, He’s placed me and Sandy and Todd in the same place at the same time…three times…thousands of miles apart! I’m still flabbergasted. I wish we had taken a photo together when we were camping last week, but we decided we’ll have lunch together the next time we come though Lewisburg, so one of these days…you will see a follow up story!

Back to what’s happening here…something is up with Facebook and I cannot see the comments you leave, which makes me really sad. I love hearing from you so, until they fix the problem, please feel free to send me a private message with your comments. I so enjoy interacting with you all…especially about this story. I can’t wait to hear from you! Have any of you had a similar experience? Let me know!

“Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.”
