Giving Thanks

Surrounded by family, fifteen inches of snow, and enough food to last a month! I baked five pies yesterday…two sugar free pumpkin, two regular pumpkin, and a burnt sugar pie. My grandma always made burnt sugar (also called butterscotch or caramel) pies because she had a cow and sugar was cheap. Anything else was too expensive. And hers were SO good. We’ll see how mine holds up to the taste test today. I also made a big pan of yeast rolls. Today I make my famous sugar free candied yams. And whatever else my cousin throws at me. We will gather 25 family members and friends. We will remember those who are no longer with us. And we will give thanks for our many blessings.

One of my many thanksgivings is for this page. I don’t know if you understand how important your love and support has been to me. I was telling my cousin last night, one of the biggest gifts Marshmallow Ranch has given me is knowing I’m not the only one. I’m not the only one who grieves. I’m not the only one who gets anxious at 2:00 in the morning. I’m not the only one who finds socks (or chili or the color green) sad. I’m not alone. There are many of you reading this who are walking your own paths. We’ve come to walk together. We’ve come to trust each other. We’ve come together as friends…soldiers…partners in crime. We’ve laughed and we’ve cried and we’ve held that sacred space for each other to return to.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You are unbelievable. May you remember the little things. May you find much laughter. May you feel the love of your families.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
