Fog

For miles there were signs flashing over the highway…”Dense Fog Ahead – Reduce Speed According To Weather”. As we climbed the mountain, the heavens opened and the wipers couldn’t keep up. I couldn’t figure out which was worse…pulling off the side of the road and risk being hit or ride along as best I could keeping the truck in front of me in my view. At least if I kept a safe distance from his flashing tail lights, I could be pretty sure we’d be safe.

Sometimes life is like that drive over the mountain. Scary, unpredictable, stormy…like driving blindfolded. Yesterday, my friend was an excellent co-pilot keeping a close eye out for hazards coming up, watching the GPS, the road atlas, and the Weather Channel simultaneously. As we drove over that scary mountain, we talked about God. We talked about seeing the blessings He brings us in our day to day lives…recognizing the littlest things like a choice parking spot or a storm holding off till you are under shelter. We are so quick to seek His assistance when things run amok. But we tend to forget to thank Him for the sunshine and that good parking spot. Let me tell you, we were both grateful to pull off the road for the night at 7:30. And we each thanked Him for getting us there safely.

“then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.”

Deuteronomy 11:14-15
