Flip Flops

Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day. My travel buddy and I hunted down the Fractured Prune…a franchise donut shop that makes your donuts hot and fresh to order. I was disappointed because all they had were white cake donuts. Lots of toppings and glazes to choose from, but cake donuts are not my favorite. And really, once you’ve had SWEET COLORADOUGH or VooDoo Doughnuts, nothing else compares. It was still fun to explore.

We went to a flea market and wandered around for a couple hours. There was a guy standing out front with a karaoke machine singing Gospel music and, OMGosh! He gave me chills. He moved a whole lot of people right there in the parking lot. It was awesome to see. I bought all three of his CD’s because he was incredibly easy to sing harmony with. I love Gospel music and I love to sing in my car.

Once we got back, it was beach time. Our friends joined us. There was shelling, and walks, and laughter. My friend and I took one last drive around the campground in the golf cart. We had called a few places in Tennessee to make reservations (at the suggestion of one of my readers) and it turns out campsites are scarce as hen’s teeth this time of year. October is a really big tourist month in the Smokey Mountains.
When we were riding around, we decided to just stay here for another three days. They have the room for us, the price is right, the weather is going to be perfect, AND we’ll save all that time and gas. We do have to change sites but it’s actually three sites closer to the beach. I think we deserve it since we were stuck in the trailer for five days in the rain! That’s how I’m rationalizing it, anyway. (Penny and Terri…I’ll come to Tennessee another time to see you…promise!)

We topped the day off with dinner out at a great Italian Restaurant. So, maybe 15 days is the perfect vacation time!
