Faith or Fear?

“Faith or Fear?”

I love my readers. And I love how God uses them to teach me things. “Betty” (not her real name) sent me a message yesterday morning. She found a little typo and wanted to let me know. Everyone knows I’m a stickler for good grammar and I have a few who help me catch things when they slip through. She always signs off with “WALK STRONG.” I wrote back that I was trying, but I have a few things I’m facing in the coming weeks that I could use some extra prayers for. Immediately, “Betty” came back with a valuable reminder.

God is omnipresent…He is everywhere and all powerful. The enemy is not. Our pastor says he is so small, he is under our boot. So he waits. And he listens. He finds weakness and exploits it. When we speak out loud and voice our fear or anger or doubt, he pounces on that and attacks us through our thoughts. So, we have to be careful about the words we confess…over ourselves, our circumstances, each other. “Betty” reminded me in order to defeat the enemy, we have to beat him at his own game and confess positive, Victory, light…all of which are God’s characteristics. She went on to say you have lay your burdens down at the foot of the cross and walk away. Ohhhhh…that is not an easy thing to do!

“Betty” says…you can have Faith, or you can have fear. You can’t have both…you have to choose. I took that into my situation yesterday. I drove to town professing light, strength, courage, Victory. I laid everything down and walked away and was filled with an incredible sense of peace. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” John 10:10 When you open yourself by confessing fears, you open the door and let the enemy in. “WALK STRONG!” I love that!

Divine appointments. God makes appointments with us every day. He sends the Holy Spirit to counsel us. In this case, He sent “Betty” with word of a typo that turned into a valuable lesson of Faith for me. It literally changed my day. It doesn’t work if you don’t listen. And it doesn’t work if you don’t obey. This life gig is pretty cool if you think about it. We have this incredible supernatural Father that loves us, craves interaction with us, sends a Spirit to coach us and teach us and, dare I say, scold us when we need it. And all we have to do is trust, and believe, and listen, and follow directions. Amazing!

Who is your “Betty” today? ❤

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  1. Boy is this sent from God or what?! I got hit with unexpected medical bills & am obsessing how to pay them. I have investments, I can get the money easy enough, in fact have started the ball rolling on that. But I’m still fretting. I keep telling myself over & over that God is with me and has my back, my whole life in fact. That takes the worry away, but that fear creeps back, no runs back. It is so hard to walk away from the fear & worry and to “let go and let God”. I have to remember God created me & everything else on the planet, he can & will be with me when I need him.

    1. I’m trying to get my 28 year old son to “get this”. He’s worried about bills. I said, “Do you remember the times you lived at home and I didn’t know how the bills would get paid? You were frustrated with me because you didn’t think I was concerned enough. I kept telling you God would provide. Sometimes, it would be THAT day, that they were due. He ALWAYS provided from an unexpected source. That fear is not from God for He hath not given us the spirit of fear..that comes from the enemy. And what you see as a lack of concern is peace and trust in our Heavenly Father. Trust Him. He always gives you what you need at just the right time.”
