Day 77: Mow, Mow, Mow the Grass!

I love Sundays. We had homemade toasted English Muffins with our breakfast yesterday and ate as we watched online church. Our church started back to in-person services this week. You had to go online to reserve a space and they only filled to 30% capacity. We won’t be going to any in-person services until there is a vaccine for this virus. We had Covid antibody testing done last week because we were both under the weather in February then Mr. FixIt had his stroke. Since stroke is one of the known side effects and, since I’m trying to find anything that might have cause it, we had the testing done locally. No real surprise that we were both negative, but I felt we needed to cover every base. We can’t risk him getting Covid, and there wasn’t a mask to be seen on anyone they showed in today’s service. As long as we can watch from home, that’s the way it will stay.

As soon as church was over, it was time to do the Sunday Stretch-Out…aka nap time. I read and relaxed and napped in the camper while Mr. FixIt stretched out in his recliner for a while. When I got up, he was rebuilding the generator. I cleaned and painted a couple of pots to plant my peppers and zucchini in. We were sitting in the shade under the maple tree around 4:30 when I saw how long the grass was getting in the near field. I jumped on the tractor and got both fields mowed then came in, fixed supper, and we watched the news. I don’t have to tell you how awful that was. It seems like we are being hit with blow after blow. When things build up and build up and build up, there is bound to come a moment of saturation when everything comes to a head. I just wish it didn’t entail such wanton violence and I pray for peace, justice, and humanity.

Today I’ll finish the mowing here, plant the peppers and squash, then head to the farm to mow. I’m making a batch of pure vanilla extract this week and it’s time to make another batch of yoghurt. I’d also like to make a challah. I haven’t done that in ages. It’s supposed to get hot tomorrow and stay that way for the foreseeable future. The pool is just about ready to swim in…just in time for the hot weather!
