Day 63: (Are We Still Counting These???)

It seems like every little event needs counting now. Days since the lockdown began. Days since Mr. FixIt’s first stroke. Days since the second…which is actually the third since he was unaware of the first one. Thankfully, he came home from the hospital yesterday at 11:00. I can already tell this time it’s going to be more of a challenge getting him to slow down and take care of himself. I’m just as stubborn as he is though…I will prevail!

The world seems so different now…different expectations…different realities. We are still practicing social distancing and will continue to do so. We wear masks wherever we go except in the car, at home, and at the farm. I keep the masks in the car and the heat from this sun is surely enough to kill any virus that they may have picked up. I was really glad to get Mr. FixIt out of that hospital. He had a private room…which I assume is the standard now whenever possible. Still, I didn’t like having him in there, for many reasons.

We did have a socially distanced visit with some of the family yesterday and that did us all a world of good. They needed to see my sweetheart and know that he is doing well. Our youngest little great grandson smiled and talked to me like he’d seen me yesterday and it was all I could do not to scoop him up in my arms and kiss those sweet cheeks! I miss all my babies…big and little.

My kitchen forays were interrupted over the weekend, but I am pleased to say the Blackberry Jam DID set up a little more. It’s not really jelled…but it is spreadable and I had some on toast yesterday morning. I think it didn’t set normally because it is low sugar. As my grandma said…it’ll be ‘et!

There are more adventures in the kitchen coming up soon. I am going to make some sauerkraut, bagels, and some homemade vanilla this week. Stay tuned for more culinary delights right here on Marshmallow Ranch! You know…in between doctor’s visits and mowing and stuff.

  1. Glad he is home…jam well it could go over ice cream or in yogurt… slowing things down for him…My dad didn’t slow down at first, we all seem to think we are invincible but he did figure out a rhythm that worked…little of this or that rest ate small meals through out the day. Just remember ONE. One moment ONE hour one day at a time.
