Day 310: Sunshine, Land, and Pollination

After lingering snow flurries yesterday morning, the sun was shining through the kitchen window when I made my way to the coffeemaker. It was a gorgeous day, albeit quite chilly. I worked on the website again most of the day and I’m 3/4ths of the way through June 2016. I finally quit in the late afternoon and went for a walk around the perimeter of our acreage. The ground is soft and wet. Interestingly, in a swath about ten feet wide, all the way around, the ground was full of humped up ground where moles and voles dig tunnels looking for grubs.

I’m still considering how to make the area more pollinator friendly while maintaining the aesthetics of a neat and tidy property. I do love the look of the vast green fields when they are freshly mown on a summer’s eve. I don’t love being a slave to the lawn tractor. As soon as I get finished with my website, my next project is to research plantings for birds, bees, and butterflies.

It felt nice to get outside and feel the sunshine on my face. I snapped a shot of TOW-Wanda with her “winter coat” on. She has a leak that needs fixing so I covered her up to avoid any more water damage. I’ll take her down to my friend Lynn’s RV Dealership in Huntington one of these days to get her fixed. I still want to sell her and get something smaller that’s easier to tow. I think we’ll be much more likely to get out and camp if we don’t have a huge camper to pull. There’s always the idea of getting a seasonal spot to camp on. Then you don’t have to tow…you just take your food with you and go to the campsite whenever you want to camp.

We are on two waiting lists for the Covid vaccines. As soon as we get our second shots, I can schedule my surgery and we’ll head to Florida for a week or two. That can’t happen soon enough to suit me…I need some sun and sand!

Prayers we all stay safe and healthy in the days and weeks ahead. And please….wear a mask, wash your hands, and mind your distance. We all really want this to be over.

““ ‘Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it. Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell, for I, the Lord, dwell among the Israelites.’ ””

Numbers 35:33-34 NIV
