Day 261: Oh, Right…Now I Get It!

Recipe from @joyfoodsunshine

I finally baked those pumpkins pies today. They still don’t taste like grandma’s but I have lots of pumpkin purée left so I’ll bake some more soon. When the pies were in the oven, Mr. FixIt ran to town for something, and I stayed home to deep clean the family room so we can put up the tree. NOW I know why I have been procrastinating!

First…I’m a pile maker. Creative people only LOOK disorganized. We know where everything is…just ask my husband! We have a table in the family room that has a long tablecloth draped over it. I have taken to stuffing things under there, but I actually need to move the table to make room for the rocking chairs that are actually supposed to be out on the front porch but they’ve been in the family room for the last three years taking up WAY too much room. Why aren’t they on the front porch, you ask? Because we never sit out there. We enter the house from the back door. The front faces the big road so it’s dusty, dirty, and noisy out there. And, the back deck isn’t covered and the rain would ruin my pretty wooden rockers. So, there they sit and I work around them.

The first thing I had to do was go through my books. The one thing Mr. FixIt and I do not have in our house is a nice bookshelf. I got rid of almost all my books when I left Colorado, but I’ve slowly accumulated more over the years. I suppose I’ll just have to put them in boxes till we get a bookcase one of these days. In the meantime, my piles are still on the floor around my recliner, waiting for me to return to them today. I still have camping stuff that needs to be taken downstairs. Stacks of papers. Projects. Cards and letters. It’s sort of ironic that one of the books in the piles there is “Get Organized”.  Oy!

I kept myself so busy this year, I just threw things on that table and now it’s time to pay the piper, so to speak. I’ll get through it today and get the decorations brought up from the basement. One step at a time…always forward!

  1. I understand. You sound a lot like me. We have a lot of stuff but nowhere to put it, so piles it is. We have someone living with us, so when he moves my house will be put in order. I hope!
