Day 252: Praying, Praying, Praying

When I left the house Wednesday morning, I headed to the clinic to drop off a specimen then headed out to the farm for my R&R. I had to sit in the clinic for an hour in the main waiting room. People were spaced apart and wearing masks. But, still…I was inside in a medical clinic…for an hour. I wasn’t really happy about it. All I wanted to do was drop off the specimen and leave. But, rules is rules, right?

I realized as I headed to the farm…I totally forgot to pack a cooler with some food. I stopped at McDonald’s and got some breakfast sandwiches, and at the Dollar General on the two-lane on the way to my destination. I was only planning to stay two nights, so that was plenty. I had boatloads of laundry to do and was finishing up the last of it yesterday morning, when my nose started dripping. My throat felt scratchy. I was coughing a little.

Uh-oh.

I didn’t like the sound (or feel) of that. If I picked up something in that waiting room or Dollar General or McDonald’s drive-thru, I sure as the dickens didn’t want to take anything home to my sweetheart. I called him, and thankfully…he feels just fine. I told him how I was feeling and that I thought I’d better just stay put till I make sure it isn’t anything to be concerned about. I hope it’s just allergies from this dusty old farmhouse.

There is a small service station and convenience store about seven miles from the farm. I wore two masks and gloves and didn’t come anywhere near anyone when I got there. I grabbed some food really quickly and was in and out of there in a whipstitch and headed back to the farm. The laundry is done and hanging in the bathroom, air drying the knits. I have a stack of magazines and my iPad and phone. I have plenty of food to last a little while. I’m sure it’s nothing and I’ll be heading home to Mr. FixIt soon.

But, in the meantime…we wait.

“From the church leader. To my dear friend Gaius. I love you because we follow the truth, dear friend, and I pray all goes well for you. I hope you are as strong in body, as I know you are in spirit.”

  1. Ugh, ugh, UGH! I’m so hoping for allergies for you (how often does one say that??) For the future, if I go into a doctor’s office and have to wait, I tell the receptionist I’ll wait in my car and I leave my number for them to call me when they are ready for me. They have never said no. Prayers for no more symptoms and that you’re soon home with your honey <3
