Day 237: Distraction Therapy

Another day of very little political involvement equals another day of peace on the Ponderosa. I started knitting some little scrubbies from a yarn made by Red Lion. It’s got rough little hairs on it and works for dishes as well as exfoliating your skin. I just cast on 20 stitches and knit each row, making them 4”x4”. They make nice little holiday gifts attached to a bar of fancy soap.

I’m determined to have the Christmas tree up by the end of the week. I mean…why not? The world needs all the sparkle it can get, and I’m all about the sparkle. The darkness comes early now. By 6:00, it looks like midnight. That’s not my cup of tea, so to speak. The little white lights of the tree brighten my mood and who doesn’t need that right about now?

Covid is still raging and we are pretty much keeping to ourselves again. Trying to be as self-sufficient as we can be and stay home. I’m working on ways to store all my kitchen gadgets without having to go up and down the stairs all the time. I think I’ll convert a closet that we don’t use and turn it into an appliance garage. A few shelves is all I’d need and it would work out perfectly.

I’ve eaten half that darned apple pie. Holy cats…it is SO good!!! I need to start running or something. Maybe do the Ironman. lol

One good thing about stepping back from watching anything about the election is giving me time to breathe and see things through a broader lens than the one I get online. I’ve been thinking more and more about this concept of colors. I’m an artsy kinda gal. I am creative and have worked with color for years. I’ve been hearing people saying they’re “purple”. I think most of them are seeing that as being planted in the middle of the road politically. I see it for myself as a way of coming together…of red and blue making purple. Civility. Inclusivity. Compassion. Tolerance. Education. Patience. Peace. Love. Hope. If we cannot find a way…we must MAKE a way.

At the time of this writing last night, we still did not know who was going to win the presidential race. So, before it is decided, I want to make a commitment to “Choose Purple” as the way to move forward and work toward reducing the divisiveness we are experiencing in our country. I only want one thing…

Healing.

❤️??
