Day 182: Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!

I had my first Zoom meeting yesterday. Well, almost had it. One of the key members didn’t show so we postponed till next week. I was all jazzed to see what this Zoom thing is all about. First of all, it took me three hours to prepare for it. I wanted to use the desktop computer, but I couldn’t find my plugin headset. Our computer doesn’t have Bluetooth so I couldn’t use the wireless headset. I finally figure out I could used the plugin headphones on the laptop while using the laptop’s microphone. It was quite a chore.

I wanted to used one of those really cool backgrounds like I see some of the celebs use when they are on Zoom. But, I would have had to have a green screen and I just didn’t have the inclination, nor the time, to waste on it. It all worked out and maybe I’ll figure out that background thing before the next meeting.

I don’t remember if I told you…our new neighbors have chickens! I’ve always wanted chickens and to hear a rooster crowing. This way, I don’t have to feed them or keep them safe yet I can still hear the hens clucking as they scratch around the neighbor’s house. And that rooster! Close enough to hear…far enough away to not be annoying. So now when my friends come to camp with me, they can hear real farm animals! My country cred just went up immensely.

Oh, the nights are getting so much cooler now. Our high yesterday was in the upper 70’s but Monday night’s low was 51 degrees. We threw an extra cover on the bed out in the camper. I wouldn’t let Mr. FixIt shut the windows, though. I like a cool room with warm blankets. It’s so cozy!

When I was finished on the computer yesterday, I went out to ride the lawnmower and got the two big fields finished before dark. I had to come in and put on a flannel shirt before I was done, though. The air has a definite chill to it now. There are some leaves falling already. I didn’t have time to work in the kitchen at all yesterday other than to do the dishes and clean. I’ll have to find some time today to get something done in there.

I always have good intentions to get certain chores done on certain days. It makes me think of the calendar in Martha Stewart Magazine. You know the one…September 3rd, pull the spent flowers from the south garden…September 9th, harvest the gourds…September 17th, mulch the roses. You know as well as I do, these are the orders she’s giving the hired help. I had to let my hired help go. They were nipping at the cooking sherry and stole the silver. lol

I guess I’ll just do what I always do. Look at what needs doing and do it…one chore at a time. It keeps me honest….and usually pretty tired.
