Day 123: Comfortable Seating…Coming Up

If you’ve been following me any length of time, you know I went through a huge downsizing after Mr. Virgo died. And I swore I would never accumulate another dang thing…SWORE. Yet, here I am, happily remarried. And the stash is growing. In my defense, there was a lot of stuff when I got here. And, in all actuality, we haven’t purchased a heck of a lot since we got married. But since Mr. FixIt’s strokes, we have noticed his arthritis is bugging him a lot more because he can’t take the medications you typically take. Yesterday, we decided to go take one more stab at finding a comfortable chair for him.

We went Friday to just about every place in town and didn’t like anything. This time, we hit pay-dirt. Belpre Furniture had dozens of recliners to choose from. I’ve gotten to the point I bypass the “bargains”. Bottom of the line merchandise ends up costing you in the end because it wears out or breaks before too long and you have to replace it. I’m also past the point of buying the best there is. I’d rather buy mid-range and get the best quality I can.

We ended up with matching La-z-Boys in “claret”…a deep wine red that will look nice with the blue/grey sofas we already have. When I had my home in Colorado, I had Ralph Lauren ladies’ wingback recliners. Perhaps not the most comfortable, but they were so stylish and the living room looked so “put together”. Now? Heck…I am all about comfort. I really do not like how these overstuffed recliners and sofas look. But I also do not care because if I’m going to sit down for any length of time with my sweetheart, I’d better be able to get up without frowning and having to walk, wincing till my joints get the cricks out of them. I also hope getting a new, more supportive chair will help my hubby feel better, too.

The part of me that went through that downsizing is groaning. But the part of me that likes a little more “cush for the tush” is a happy little camper. Oh, another downside of Covid…it will take ninety days to get them. I told him there was absolutely no hurry. So, here we are…two new pieces of furniture. What’s next? End tables? An area rug? Will this madness ever end? lol
