Culture

Oh, I’ve been reminded of something I’ve been missing and didn’t even realize it. While the traffic and sheer volume of people in Denver is disconcerting, I’ve really missed the cultural aspects of the big city. There are so many really great venues in Denver that offer amazing entertainment opportunities. Sports, museums, music, art, theater, ballet, opera, and symphony….I’ve missed them all. I’ve experienced wonderful culture in WV and OH, but the sheer volume of choices in the Denver metro area and beyond are staggering.

We had a family outing yesterday. I’ll tell you what, my eldest daughter not only hit the jackpot with her husband, she won the lottery with his parents. I love them dearly and they are as much my family as my own flesh and blood. My Christmas gift from them was a ticket to see the traveling Broadway production of A Christmas Story: The Musical in the Buell Theater at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts yesterday. It was a really fun show. There are 12 of us in the immediate family and we all got to go…from the great grandma down to the 7 year old. What a hoot! We went for coffee after while we waited for the crowds to thin out then we went en masse to dinner. I cannot tell you how blessed I am to call these people my family….every single one of them. I love them immensely.

Here’s another blessing. I was contacted by a Christian magazine about my post on Saturday. They asked if they could print it in their magazine. That is a huge honor for me and I am humbled. My prayers are being answered. The number of readers here at Marshmallow Ranch continually grows. I know that it is God at work directing people to my page who need to read the words He gives me. As you know, one of my goals in the coming year is to publish my books. Publishers these days won’t even touch a writer’s manuscript until they have an established “platform”. This consists of published articles, references in printed materials, speaking engagements, interviews, guest posts, blogs, and social media. I have an ever growing list of places you can find my work, and I’m beginning to do speaking engagements. I now am on Instagram at @MMRanch2013 as well as Twitter and Tumblr at @marshmallowranch. I am creeping ever closer to 4000 readers here on Marshmallow Ranch. Now, numbers on their own don’t really matter to me. But having credibility with a publisher does. So, I’m going to ask you a huge, huge favor, dear Ranchers. If you really love Marshmallow Ranch and find it in your heart to do so, please share my page and/or posts, either on your own page or that of a friend if you feel others could benefit from my words. I have asked the Lord to not only bring me the words I write, but bring me the people who need to hear them. There are two quick ways to get more readers…by referral and by paid promotions. In order to keep doing what I’m doing, I can’t afford right now to dump a ton of money into boosting pages. So, consider this my little telethon. Let’s see if we can help more people who are walking this path with us and share, share, share. Maybe Saturday’s post because it did really well and was read by over 42,000 people! Or any future posts you enjoy. Or just share my page in general.

I hate to ask anything of you, but I can’t really do much with the book till the platform is more impressive to a publisher. I prayed about it, and the message I got was to trust you and just ask. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you all so much! And, God bless each and every one of you! I promise I will do my best and deliver as good writing as I am capable of in return.

❤️❤️❤️
