Coffee Houses

One of my favorite things to do when I travel is hunt down independent coffee houses. Havens of peace and caffeine, these little out of the way mom and pop shops build our communities by offering a quiet place to converse or reflect.

After several busy weeks since arriving in West Virginia, I am enjoying a little down time. My daughter was hanging out with her fellow classmates yesterday, so I spent the day exploring the Historic Depot District of Richmond, Indiana. Sweet little antique shops, a great used book shop (2 Sisters Bookstore), Roscoe’s Coffee Bar & Tap House, and a late lunch in Little Sheba’s Restaurant provided a lovely junket on an unseasonably warm December day.

Taking time for yourself and simple pleasures is incredibly important for your self care. And it doesn’t have to break the bank. For under $15 I had one of the best Italian subs I’ve ever had and bought the small volume…The Prayer of Jabez. And, I had the pleasure of meeting some really nice people. Priceless!

“These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this,” declares the Lord.”

Zechariah 8:16-17 NIV
