Camping With the Girls

Sunset over camper
“The sun sets on another fun day camping with the Girl Campers.”

There is something special about camping with a bunch of gals. In ancient times, women gathered at the well when they went to fetch water. Farm women gathered at the Grange or at barn raisings, or when babies were born. Quilting Bees and Afternoon Teas. Women have always wanted/needed the company of other women.

When I was much younger, I got along with men better than women. I found women to be gossipy or competitive…neither of which were appealing. However, since Mr. Virgo died, I have learned to appreciate my fellow females. Especially when we are sitting around a campfire or under a pavilion on a rainy afternoon.

My favorite campouts always include an afternoon siesta. Lots of talk time and knitting. Catching up with people to find out what’s been going on in their lives. When you come to a camping event that occurs once to twice a year, that may be the only time to get to see these women and they become good friends. Lifelong friends.

I came back over to the camper after supper last night and caught the sun just before it dipped below the horizon. I thought it was lovely how the light changed to a golden green glow. These are the moments that make me remember why I bought my first camper. I want to do this as long as I am able.

Oh, yes…I love camping with Mr. FixIt. But, there’s just something special about camping with a bunch of gals.

❤️

“O God, to the farthest corners of the planet people will stand in awe, startled and stunned by your signs and wonders. Sunrise brilliance and sunset beauty both take turns singing their songs of joy to you.”

Psalms 65:8 TPT

    1. I’ll bet you would! You can always try attending an event and stay in a local lodge or hotel. Also, many campgrounds and parks have cabins. The fellowship is wonderful. Maybe after a couple of times you’d get brave enough to try camping. Or, you’d find you like doing it that way. It’s not for everyone, but I sure love it. I sat and talked to the gals all morning while I knitted socks. Then I had lunch with them and now I’m back in my camper stretched out for a little reading and maybe a little snooze. I love this…it’s so refreshing. ❤️
