Camping Season

During the long, dark, freezing weeks of January and February, all I wanted to do was go back to Colorado to the arms of those who love me most. Now it’s spring and all I want to do is go explore WV and camp in the mountains, attend music festivals, and ride my bike along rivers. I put up with the worst WV winter in decades only to leave when the fun starts. What’s up with that? However, I need to have summer in Colorado. I want to play with my grandkids and take them camping before they get too old for Nana. I want to have long, leisurely conversations with my daughters. I want to hug my brother around the neck. I want to go out and play with my friends there. Summers in Colorado are divine! Beautiful blueblaster skies and so many fun things to do! I wish I had two trailers and a time machine…I’d keep a home in both places and time travel between them. Why is life so short???

“Just wait till you have kids of your own and you’ll see how fast time flies!” Show of hands…whose mom told them that? And, didn’t we think she was crazy? Oh, yes….the summer vacation stretched before us and it seemed like forever till school started again. For-EV-er! Now, here it is…April half gone already. That’s why I’m thinking of heading south next winter. Maybe I won’t waste so much time hibernating. I feel like half my life (ok…10 weeks) are spent in a hole. I’ll just have to make up for it by playing extra hard while I can. Seriously…I want to be one of those badass old ladies that go on wild and crazy adventures! Wait…I already DO that, don’t I? But I’m NOT old. I’ll never be OLD! My friend Vicky told me yesterday that 60 is the new middle age. I’ll go for that!

Oh, and by the way…remember me telling you about my friend whose son told her, via text, that he was getting married the next day? Well, he called her the next morning and told her they just couldn’t get married without her there. So, the wedding is THIS weekend. So happy she gets to witness this monumental event! Millenials…they just aren’t into tradition.

Happy Friday, fellow Ranchers!

He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.”

Psalms 23:2
