Camping Critters

The little camp cat…I’m so tempted to take her home, but I’m afraid Pumpkin will hurt her. She attacks anything that steps foot on her turf.

We awoke yesterday to sprinkles and it looked like rain several times but never happened. We had breakfast under the pavilion. Lynn and Michelle bring their dogs with them when they camp. Lynn has two Corgis and Michelle has a Leonberger. They are best friends who love to travel together and it’s usually in Lynn’s Class B van. Now imagine two people and three dogs sleeping in a Roadtrek. Lynn has it fixed up with crates for the dogs to sleep in and she has made good economical use of her space. But I’m afraid I’d be getting a little claustrophobic with all that extra company.

Michelle and her big boy! The picture of the corgis didn’t come out…I’ll try tomorrow.

It’s always a pleasure to camp with them. Gail has her camper van here when she is the Camp Host and we get the girlfriends together at least twice a year for a campout. I come along once and I bring Mr. FixIt with me in the fall. We love this campground…it’s one of our top five favorites. Afternoon tea, naps, magazines, knitting (or other crafts), and good conversation. These are my kind of campers. There is cocktail hour, but alcohol is not the central focus.

Chatting around the fire and looking up answers to questions on Google! Better living through technology.

We had a campfire last night and I made popcorn in the Detonator Popper with the crank that stirs the kernels to keep them from burning. I went online and found the directions so I would know what amounts to use. They suggest unrefined coconut oil because it doesn’t burn or smoke and the popcorn comes out nice and fluffy. I purchased popcorn seasoning at Walmart when I bought the coconut oil on my way here. We had Cheesy Jalapeño, Kettle Corn, Chile Limon, and Butter so you could choose your flavor. It was really good and we had so much fun sitting around the campfire talking. Actually, the campfire didn’t bother me last night. The wind continually blew the smoke away from me so I didn’t get choked on it.

One more night and I head home to my Mr. FixIt!
