Blessings Abound!

What a day! Other than missing the loved ones who couldn’t be with us, the day was truly perfect. Every aspect of the meal came out to the minute to be served at the same time. I think I could have put the turkey in 30-45 minutes earlier and it would have been right on the money. But it didn’t disappoint and that dry rub was AMAZING! The meat was tend and juicy and well seasoned throughout. The Winter Vegetable Salad with the Maple BalsamicGlaze was a big hit. The hot rolls were devoured in a flash.

It’s funny…as we filled our plates in the kitchen and made our way to the dining room table, I turned to everyone and said, “Listen…I love you all as my own, so I’ll tell you like I’d tell my kids. I have been cooking since Monday. Let’s sit and savor this meal with each other. This is such a treat to have you all here with us.” And…it was perfect. I think it was the longest meal we’ve had together and it was delightful!

The kids went downstairs and played pool. Mr. FixIt went down to “show them how it’s done.” Us girls sat upstairs and gabbed and watched the football game. When everyone left, Mr. FixIt and I cleaned up the kitchen to that’s behind us. Today we can just veg out and eat leftovers.

It was an all around success and the kids couldn’t thank us enough. What an absolute treat!
