Blessed Relief

After going at warp speed for weeks, I took it way down yesterday. I slept till 10:30. That’s unheard of! I baked gluten free biscuits and sausage gravy for brunch. I voted and checked on my insurance. I browsed in a hundred year old Five & Dime. I bought a cookbook…a rare indulgence. I went for a leisurely drive through the country. I ate BBQ for dinner. Essentially…I indulged my every whim and enjoyed every second of it.

We’ve talked about self care before. Giving yourself permission to slow down and do something you might consider self indulgent is necessary to your well being. Sitting here in the rocker with a hot cup of tea. Talking with a friend. Listening to good music. Pondering the richness of life. Gratitude bubbles up from my heart.

The holidays are fast approaching. It will be a time of frenetic activity between gatherings with friends and family and traveling to Colorado to see my babies. Soon after, the doldrums of January and February will set in. I’m going to be proactive this year and look forward to some warm fun in the sun somewhere during those icy months. Placing something joyful in front of me. That has been my modus operandi since Mr. Virgo died. I’m not stopping now!

❤️

““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭NIV‬‬
