A Shock to the Senses

Our redbud is still blooming!

We went from meat locker to microwave in less than twenty-four hours! It was downright chilly last week when the wind blew but the last two days at the beach were very pleasant…in the sixties. We got home well after dark Saturday night and by the time we went to bed, the temps were back down in the sixties which made for pretty good sleeping weather. That and being thoroughly exhausted after driving fourteen hours.

We knew it was warm here while we were gone. The family said they turned on their air conditioning already. We got up to a beautiful sunny day and took a good look around. There was a good deal of rain the first half of last week. Add heat in the eighties and the grass grew thick and deep. It was in desperate need of cutting.

I went out to have a cup of coffee on the deck and I could tell already that mowing was going to become pretty uncomfortable, pretty quickly. Mr. FixIt ran to our little town to fill up the gas can and I got started on the mowing. We had to take a break mid afternoon to cool off before we went out to finish.

I’m telling you…I just do not tolerate heat like I used to. And by bedtime, even with a shower, I was still way overheated. We’ve tried to put off turning on the AC but just couldn’t put it off any longer. We had such a lay low winter that pulling off a week at the beach, a fourteen hour drive, and a full day in the hot sun mowing and I’m toast. So, I’m going to keep this short again as I’m writing in front of the fan, sipping electrolytes.

Getting old(er) ain’t for sissies.
