A Prayer for Provision

F-150 in a thought bubble

Ok, today’s post isn’t really preachy but there’s a whole lotta “faithy” in it so if that’s not your thing, y’all can move on and come back tomorrow. But, you may want to see how this “Faith in Provision” pans out.

I found out this week, my truck is totaled. Poor Freida. She served me well…she took me places and towed my house on wheels for 55,000+ miles, gave me very little trouble, and saved my life when we were in a crash two weeks ago. And now, I need a replacement vehicle. Ahhh….wouldn’t a nice, shiny new truck be a lovely thing to own? That new car smell, all the bells and whistles, all the potential trips? Yes, that would be wonderful…but, I’m done buying new cars. The depreciation as you drive it off the lot equals my whole year’s income. Literally. Nope, unless I win the Powerball, I’m done with new cars. I prefer a good, quality, moderate mileage, clean, well-maintained vehicle with one owner.

I walk my faith. I trust God for provision. He provides for my needs. Maybe not my wants, but most definitely my needs. I’m not asking for a Mercedes. I’ve had one. Believe me, it’s a car. A nice car…but, just a car nonetheless. I need a tow vehicle. So, here’s my prayer.

“Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me and taking care of me. Thank You for Your protection during the accident so that no one was seriously injured. Thank you for providing my every need just as you do for the sparrows in the fields. I am grateful beyond words.

As You know, I lost my truck in the wreck. I need a replacement vehicle. I need it to be newer than my other one, with far less mileage. I need it to have new tires so I won’t have to go buy some anytime soon. And…here’s the big one. I need the vehicle, tax, and license to be less than or equal to the insurance check.

I know I’m asking a lot, but I need to feel safe on the road. I need to be able to pull my “home” anywhere. I need it to be reliable and energy efficient. I’m leaving this up to You. Guide me to, and through, the sale that will provide this vehicle. Show me where there are opportunities to share Your grace and light in the world. Lord, please open Your heart and shower this blessing upon me, Your humble servant.

Amen”

Ask. Seek. Knock. These are action words. I can’t just ask for what I need. I have to offer to serve and be willing to do so when asked. And, I have to knock on the door of God’s heart and ask Him to open it to me. This is my Prayer for Provision that I use when I have a specific need. And now I let it go and let God do the work. And watch what happens. If I get a vehicle…blessings abound. If I don’t, it just hasn’t come yet. Either way…God is good, all the time. This isn’t a test. It is trust. ❤️

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:19-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

    1. I am believing with and for you!

Abba, hear the prayer of your beloved and bless her beyond her expectations. Make it such a God-thing, the kind of happening that only comes from your hand and heart; that causes people to step back and say, ‘Wow! look what God did.’

And Father, will you help us all to see the divine appointments you have placed in our days. And then will you help us be bold and step into them with your words flowing from our lips. You are alone are good. You are holy. We praise you now for what you have already prepared for Ginny. In Jesus name. Amen.

      1. I’m in agreement Father with the prayers of these two and we know You are faithful and hear our prayers. In the name of Jesus, Amen

  1. I love your prayer, Ginny. GOD always provides for us and He gives us what we need. It’s power in prayer. Trust Him and let it go. He is a faithful GOD.
    Love and prayers ❤

  2. Ginny, If you just bought new tires for totaled truck, be sure to ask ins co to include reimbursement for those. If you can prove recent purchase price they should add that and other major repairs on top of of your ins check. Just mentioning this in case you had not asked that specific question of them.

  3. Amen! I’m going to use your prayer to ask for a new home since my landlord is selling the house I’m in now and I have to find a new place to live by the end of May. I have no idea where I’m going or how I’m going to afford a move right now. Afraid of being homeless.

  4. I am currently at a women’s retreat in
Louisiana. The theme is FAITH, walk it out. Which is what you’re doing.
Your faith will be rewarded. Trust that it will happen.
