A Mellow Day

The color is washed out in this photo. I was sitting in the shade under the pergola.

I sleep out in the camper as often as I can in the summer. It not only gives me the feeling that I am really camping, but it also takes me to that safe place of prayer and meditation where I spent the first couple of years after becoming a widow. I was so upset Friday when the camper broke…AGAIN. And I knew I would toss and turn with my stomach in knots. So, I settled in, turned on the fans, and stretched out to read and write and knit.

The former Mrs. FixIt came over yesterday with a picture of a border collie that she decoupaged on wood. It looked just like Alice and it was so sweet of her to bring it to us. She was on her way to the nursery to get some plants at their big sale. If it weren’t for the fact that we travel and camp so much during the summer, I would have gotten some, too. But no one is here to water them regularly and I hate to spend good money on flowers that will either wither and die or be eaten my the local fauna. It was lovely to visit with her, though.

We had a very lazy, lay low day. We thought we might go out to the farm to mow, but it really didn’t need it on Wednesday when we were there. Maybe Monday. We cooked out and ate on the deck by the pool, which was lovely….our first time this season. The high here was only 75° yesterday and I can handle that all day long. Starting Tuesday, we head into the 90’s…just in time for my camping trip with the girls! Thank God for air conditioning in the camper! When I camp with my camping gals, we chat all morning, and then sit in the shade with fans till we can’t stand it anymore, then we nap and read in the AC till the evening starts to cool off. That’s my kind of camping!

We’ll mow here today. I know…it’s Sunday. The day of rest and praising Jesus…both of which I can do from the seat of a tractor. I’ll crank up my music on the headphones and worship Him in His creation…taking care of what He gave us.
