I call to mind my ex-husband’s grandmother, who was on the roof cutting tree limbs with a chainsaw in her 70s. Her husband had passed several years earlier, and she reckoned no one else was going to do it for her. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt, and it was decided soon after that maybe it was time for her not to live by herself so far out in the country anymore.

Your post this morning touches my heart. I live in my parents old home place, house. I feel the same as you. My old house is failing too. And as you say my sweet husband and I have neither the energy nor the resources to put it back in good shape. We kept it up as much as possible, made repairs, painted the outside and keet the yards up in a small area, the rest is woods. I hate to see the day we have to sell stuff, that I’ve collected over the years, and maybe do away with the old house. But that’s life, I guess when age catches up with us. We are 70 and still think we are 40, but our bodies tell us different. We have a small camper and love to travel around, we’re getting ready to go up to the NC mountains for a couple if weeks. It’s good to get away, but always good to get back to our little house. I look so forward to your post each morning. I feel like I know you and love your adventures. Your Mr Fixit sounds like a good man. I have a good man too. We celebrated our 13th year on Monday.
