[…] Every year, I am asked to repost that story at Christmas. I knew instinctively when I started this journey there would be others coming up behind me. I knew part of my healing would come in offering my hand and heart to those who feel the wretched pain of loss every day, but most acutely at the holidays. I knew I would never be the same…forever affected by a circumstance I never dreamed would be so painful. So, if I am feeling that pain…others are bound to be as well. […]

[…] I’m reminded of that first Christmas without Mr. Virgo and how Santa helped me get through one of the toughest days. If you’ve been with me for a while…you know the story. But I’ll share the link here because it’s just as timely now as it was then. If I could visit with Santa this year, I’d tell him, “My bestie died. I need a new heart.” And he’d drape his arm across my shoulder, just like he did that day nine Christmases ago. https://www.marshmallowranch.com/santa/ […]

In reply to <a href="https://www.marshmallowranch.com/santa/#comment-13611">Laura</a>.

Hi, Laura…you know what? Just about every time I read that post, it makes me cry, too. And it’s been almost eight years since I wrote it. I’m so glad you are following along and…OMGosh! What an undertaking to read the whole blog! I’ve had a lot of people tell me they heave read the whole thing from the beginning. There sure are some twists and turns in there…and I’m so, so glad I wrote through all this time. Feel free to check back in and let me know what you think! ?

Wow this made me cry a little, it's so sad and good. I'm reading your whole blog from the beginning on recommendation from a lady I met at an RV resort who goes by "The Melancholy Camper." I don't know why this one cracked my calm, when the earlier stuff didn't. But I'm glad to be reading your story; thanks for sharing.
