I think this procedure Mr. FixIt had on his back is really going to help. He’s already feeling relief, even though the site where they did the ablation is sore…it’s not the same awful pain! Yay!!! As a matter of fact, he felt so good last night that he asked me out for dinner in town at our favorite Chinese restaurant. On the way home, we drove the long way home out some old country roads. I’m telling you…I am really glad there weren’t any cars coming in the opposite direction because there was no place to pass.
We drove past Riverbend Farm and Gardens’ high tunnels this evening. We didn’t walk up to the grow houses because I think I make them nervous and they come down to see what’s going on. I hate to bother them because I know they are so busy this time of year. The tomatoes are already thigh high and I think I could see good progress on their green beans. I hope to get set up so I can start buying from them on a more regular basis.
When we got back on the two-lane, we turned out another country road that meandered through the woods and between spacious farmland. We drove out past a friend’s house and went on till we got to the dead end. You couldn’t hear a thing but nature out there! Mr. FixIt and his family used to ride their bikes out these country roads so he knew his way around. He’d say, “Turn here.” And off we’d go down another rabbit hole.
It was a beautiful evening for a drive. We had a strong thunderstorm in the afternoon so the air was clean and fresh. The woods and fields were rich with the scent of pine and honeysuckle. And, the sky was painted blue and gold and peeked through the scattered clouds. We’ve been working so hard the last week, it was nice to just take a day off. Other than homemade sourdough pancakes for breakfast, I didn’t have to cook at all. And the only gardening I did was tie up the tomato plants before the rain hit.
Now, that’s a treat!

***Gratitude Journal***
Today, I am grateful for the time I have here with Mr. FixIt and all my family. I’m grateful for a truck that’s reliable enough to carry us through the woods and along the hedgerows of our country lanes.
