So Much Sea to See…

We got up much earlier yesterday. I made breakfast sandwiches and we headed over to the old Bonner Bridge to do some fishing. Remember…I said FISHING, not CATCHING! I had one really good bite but I could not set the hook so were were out of luck again. But that’s ok. Sitting out there in the sunshine, watching the inlet where the sound meets the ocean, and being with Mr. FixIt was all I needed. By noon, the wind picked up and I had my heavy Notre Dame sweatshirt on under my ski shell but it was getting kinda miserable. We packed up and decided to explore the southern end of the island.

We went all the way down to Hatteras Village. We stopped at a Day Use Area on the sound side and cooked our hotdogs in the solar oven. We watched the kite surfers. We stopped at Lee Robinson’s General Store for an ice cream. Then we went all the way up to Nag’s Head to fill up the truck. We wandered around Harris Teeter again. We love to just look at the stuff. I found some Decaf Tetley Tea in the clearance bin. I used to drink Tetley Tea when I lived in England.

It was 5:30 by the time we got back to the camper. I fixed hamburger steaks, asparagus, and Jasmine rice for supper. Then it was time to go over to the marina to watch the sunset. It didn’t disappoint, but the temperature dropped and the wind picked up, so we soon headed back for the night.

Today is Wednesday and our week here is half over. Today and tomorrow is supposed to be chilly with some rain so we likely will not go fishing. There are some other things we want to do while we are down here so we may explore some more. Or, we may just hang out at the campground and cook, eat, knit, and nap! That wouldn’t hurt my feelings one bit!

***Gratitude Journal***
Today I am grateful that…even in the midst of great uncertainty in the world…I can commune with God on the beaches of His ocean. I can find peace and joy in the smallest of moments and know that He is with me…always. He will never leave me nor forsake me. This gives me great strength and the courage to face the turbulent times ahead.
