Road Trip: Day Twenty-Nine…”On the Road Again!”

Sometimes all you need is a great friend and a tank of gas.

This is the hard part…saying goodbye. I don’t like goodbyes. I miss my kids and my grands when I’m in West Virginia. I wish we lived closer. At one point I was ready to move back to Colorado. But man…the cost of living is nearing the breaking posing for most people and it has gotten so incredibly crowded. As much as I will miss my girls, I am longing for home…for the peacefulness of the country…for smaller towns and fewer crowds.

We had a great day yesterday. We fussed around getting the camper cleaned and ready for travel. We did laundry and visited with my son-in-law’s parents, then went to Little’s Art Camp program. She displayed several art pieces and played the violin. Afterwards, we had 14 for a family dinner and that will have to do till next time. We’ve decided to drive the back roads and see what a cross road trip was like in the days of the two-lane blacktop. We’ll follow a river into the sand hills of the western prairie. Our progress will be slow, but I’ll check in and share with you. This is an entirely new experience for me and I’m looking forward to it! ❤️

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ ”

For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:4, 10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  1. We really disliked interstate travel and took the backroads whenever we could. Slow down! Check out the diners and cafes. Scenery besides concrete and guardrails.

  2. We’ll be leaving for Colorado this week. We, too, will take the “usta be” bestest and fastest roads. Take our time, see the small towns. Will love seeing the kid and grans, will also be looking forward to being on our way back to our sleepy little town. I can’t imagine being gone for a month, still on bucket list. Drive slow, catch the flowers, enjoy each other.

  3. You are so correct about how crowded and expensive it has become here in Colorado. It is frustrating for my grandchildren who cannot afford to buy a house here.

Hope you have a wonderful drive on the backroads. That is how my husband and I traveled. You find so many interesting places and people that way.
