Rain on a Camper Roof…aaaaah!!!

Blue flowers in the woods

I had company for supper yesterday which was lovely! A simple Easter meal of roasted chicken, fresh green beans cooked with bacon, mashed potatoes and gravy. It was delightful. After my company left, I looked up at the darkening sky threatening rain. My dishes were done, my leftovers put away, and nothing left to do but write. Now, I could write like I have for the last six months…OR, I could go camp out in TOW-Wanda! Guess which one I chose?

I haven’t slept in the camper since October. It has the BEST bed…a six inch memory foam mattress I bought when I decided to get serious and camp full time. I really miss this bed! I grabbed my NA beer, a small bag of chocolate covered peanuts (hey, it was Easter!) and my phone, iPad, and a flashlight. TOW-Wanda had just had a good cleaning last week for company so she was all set! Fresh sheets, warm blankets, windows flung open for the breeze…just waiting for the rain.

I’m heading into travel season and can’t wait! I leave next weekend for the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I’ve never been there so I’m really looking forward to it. I really lucked out and got a time share from a friend that wasn’t using it. I’ll let you know about the place after I check out. My favorite thing I’ve read about it so far is it has a Jaccuzi tub AND is just steps from the beach! Works for me!

I’ll spend the last half of May and early June in Daytona Beach. I no sooner get home till I head to Colorado for the summer. I’ll be back in West Virginia in early September. I’m hostessing a Sisters on the Fly trip the weekend after Labor Day. I can hardly wait to show off my home state to the Sisters!!! It’s going to feel good to have some quiet down time this week as I prepare for the upcoming travel. I hope you all had a blessed Easter! ❤️

  1. Bladder alarm seems to wake me each morning around 3:30 – 4:00, and you have become my mid-night read . I think I’ve hardly missed a day. Thank you for walking me through this grief journey…!

  2. I love the OBX! One thing I didn’t realize at the time, although I asked my adult kids if it could be….Rodanthe is located there and we kept seemingly going thru it and I kept asking, Where is Richard Gere?
Nicolas Sparks lives or did live in the OBX and he wrote the novel, Nights of Rodanthe. After I got home, I searched it out and they have the B and B (that I even remembered seeing) and a tour that you can take around town. I want to go back.
We saw the horses run the beach in Corolla and it was amazing.

  3. Loved your post first thing this morning. We are just down the road from the Outer Banks in a lovely campground this morning. Been here since Friday. Staying a couple more days as we had some trouble with our vehicle. We are just inside the Virginia/NC state line. Visitng My son and his family for Easter. We went to church and out to lunch with them yesterday. We always go back home by way of the OB. We love the island there. We usually spend the night in Rodanthe, in the only little motel in town!….We loved the movie, Nights in Rodanthe, with Richard Geere. The beach house that was in the movie is a beautiful place, and the Rodanthe Pier is nice. There was a big party scene in the movie filmed there. I know you will enjoy all the different towns and sights along the island. Have fun and keep making our hearts smile with your post.

  4. Love your postings, Ginny
They are powerful and healing. Enjoy your travel plans. The area of North Carolina is beautiful. A great scenario for the movie Nights of Rodanthe. I liked the book too.
