Last Love

Cutting the wedding cake
“My sweet love…my last love.”

I was talking to Mr. FixIt sometime over the last few weeks as we were planning the wedding. I told him this was my last wedding and I wanted it to be very special while maintaining a reasonable budget. He looked at me and said, “Don’t say that. You don’t know that this is your last. Something could happen to me and I wouldn’t want you to be alone.” Of course, after losing Mr. Virgo, I’m fully aware I could lose this wonderful man. It’s part of the hesitancy I felt in the beginning about getting married. I was afraid I’d jinx it.

I can tell you honestly, though…I have no intention of ever marrying again. This is my darling. My “silver love”. My last love. My forever love. This one. It’s not that I didn’t feel that with my other spouses. You never enter a marriage with the thought it won’t last. It never really came to the forefront of my mind that Mr. Virgo would actually up and die on me. Certainly I never had a clear picture of what that would look like.

I may not have been Mr. Virgo’s first love…but I was his last.

And, for me…Mr. FixIt is my last love. No matter what. How could I possibly top this? ❤️

“Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love drives out fear. It is punishment that makes a person fear, so love is not made perfect in the person who fears.”  1 John 4:18 NCV

  1. It may feel like your last love, but he’s right, things can happen. My uncle said my aunt was his last love. She passed and after time, he remarried at age 100. So love is everlasting. Only God knows what our future is. I pray for you that Mr. Fixit is your last. I have remarried also after a 14 yr. marriage. Love is everlasting. Just dont worry about tomorrow, enjoy today. God is good.

  2. God is good. He knows the future and will be with us, and you, all the way. We will be married 45 years in December. We have talked about life and how lucky we are. We just can’t imagine what life would be like without the other. Love and live, one day at a time. Enjoy each day, live it to the fullest. To God be the Glory.

  3. I love my “silver love”. What a sweet way to say it. While I have no desire to remarry I love hearing about your adventures in this new life you have made. Congratulations!

  4. Congratulations to you and Mr Fixit! I look forward to your honest, real, and raw stories everyday. So happy for you both!
