Airing Out

Kicking Back by the Pool

We have had a few really warm days here in West Virginia, even though it’s been rainy and grey. I’ve been staying put a lot this year. Last year was crazy busy for me and I traveled a lot. There was also the car accident a year ago. Mr. FixIt had his hand surgery the first week of December and now he’s having pretty intense hand therapy, and I am taking advantage of the down time to just be still. We have some fun things scheduled, but for now, I’m kind of liking this homebody stuff.

We have a lot of meals together and I have found a new joy in cooking. I also enjoy those two or three hours three times a week he’s at PT and I can be alone with my thoughts and my keyboard. It’s been good for me. The other day the temperature got up to the low 70’s. It felt so good to go outside and put my feet up and breathe the clean country air at Mr. FixIt’s place.

There’s water everywhere right now. The ground is saturated and the rain keeps coming. We got a little water in the basement yesterday morning, but nothing like last month. Mr. FixIt built a dam to keep the water out and it would have worked perfectly except the sump pump didn’t turn on like it was supposed to. We’ll do a permanent fix this summer. The Ohio River is supposed to crest on Sunday three feet above flood stage. It’s that time of year. We are likely to still have some snow in the coming two or three weeks, but there is an end in sight now and that makes me breathe easier.

I think we will spend some time in the coming week going through some boxes marked “garage sale” and get rid of some stuff. I had a request in the last couple of weeks to revisit the topic of downsizing so we’ll get into that, too. Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone! ❤️
